Position Summary

WTC Communications is looking for a qualified candidate to fill a position as a full-time Field Technician based out of our Kingston office. We are looking for individuals that have some experience with hands-on outside work and are looking for a long-term commitment to a position in the area.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

The Field Technician is required to use a company vehicle to visit various customer locations throughout the Kingston and south Frontenac area and will be responsible for any outside duties relating to the operation of our broadband business including but not limited to:

  • Installation of Fibre optic networks with internet, television, and phone services
  • Wiring and setup of security related devices
  • Erecting and climbing mounting structures such as towers and tripods
  • Installing, configuring, and commissioning broadband radio equipment
  • The chosen candidate will also be responsible for sharing 24/7 on-call duties and completing urgent repairs after hours when required.

Education and experience:

  • 2-3 years working experience in a hands-on outside environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class G driver’s license with clean abstract
  • WHMIS and Fall Arrest certifications would be an asset
  • Post Secondary education in electronics would be an asset

  • Able to work safely and comfortably at heights in excess of 100’
  • Honest, trustworthy and professional with safe working habits and good customer service
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and various software applications
  • Knowledge of Telephone/Wireless/DSL/Fibre/Video technologies is an asset
